Founded by triathletes

The Alachua County Youth Triathlon Club (ACYTC) was founded in March 2023 by Dīna Bandhu and Andrea Gardner of the Super Cool Racing Team (SCRT), a Gainesville‑based triathlon club. Their mission was simple: share the fun, excitement, and life‑changing benefits of triathlon with the next generation.

ACYTC introduces kids across Gainesville and Alachua County to the amazing world of swimming, biking, and running. Our club helps young athletes build confidence, stay active, discover new skills, make friends, and—above all—have a blast. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment for kids of all backgrounds and experience levels.

ACYTC is proud to be a USAT‑certified youth triathlon club, committed to safety, quality coaching, and inspiring a lifelong love of movement.

Meet Your Volunteers!

Andrea (Andee) Gardner has been a passionate triathlete since 2002, competing in every distance from speedy sprints to the full Ironman (140.6). Her triathlon career includes standout moments such as racing at the USAT Age Group Nationals in 2017, the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2022, and the iconic Ironman World Championship in Kona in 2025.

Andee co‑founded the Alachua County Youth Triathlon Club (ACYTC) when her daughter discovered an interest in triathlon. Wanting to support her daughter’s training and help her connect with other young athletes, Andee saw the perfect opportunity to build a welcoming, energetic community for kids.

With more than two decades of experience, Andee is thrilled to share her love of triathlon with the next generation. She hopes to inspire kids to stay active, try new challenges, and maybe even catch the triathlon “bug” that captured her heart so many years ago.

Mission Statement

The Alachua County Youth Triathlon Club (ACYTC) is dedicated to introducing young people—17 and under, from all backgrounds and athletic levels—to the excitement of swimming, biking, and running. Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of movement, endurance sports, and healthy living.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes children from underserved communities, as well as those with little or no prior sports experience. Through supportive coaching and accessible opportunities, we help athletes build confidence, independence, and a strong connection to the outdoors.

ACYTC also promotes good nutrition, hydration, and positive sportsmanship as essential elements of both athletic success and overall wellbeing. By fostering teamwork and a sense of community, we aim to help every child discover their potential and experience the joy of being active together.
